Stampin’ Up’s Bunch of Blossoms Card

DSC_0180 (4)Do  you need a little cheer in your life to get you through these last days of summer?  It’s hot and muggy here in The Delta, but this Bunch of Blossoms card cools my mood and brings a smile!  It’s one of my favorite new bundles in the new Annual Catalog and makes it so easy to make a stunning card!  The bundle saves you 10% and includes the Bunch of Blossoms Stamp Set and the Blossom Builder Punch for just $35.  That’s a good deal for a bundle!  You can make a variety of flowers with the punch alone, and the stamp set gives you additional options. I’ll be sharing that in my next blog post.

For this card, start with a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base in Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  Layers add lots of texture and interest so I like to have at least 3 layers on a card.  The second layer is cut 4″ x 5 1/4″ from Peekaboo Peach cardstock.  The third layer is 3 3/4″ x 5″ and is from Whisper White cardstock embossed with polka dots (or your favorite embossing folder).  Adhere all 3 layers with tape runner or Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Adhere a piece of lacy ribbon near the bottom of the white cardstock layer and top it with a geometric border piece from the Flourish Thinlits in Garden Green.  The flowers come next.  For the largest flower, punch 5 large petals from Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  Overlap them in 2 layers with the front layer being about 1/2″ lower than the back layer..  The back layer has 3 petals with the center petal on top. For the front layer, add 2 additional petals on top of the back layer that don’t spread out as far.  Punch and tuck in the small yellow flower center for the stamen before adhering the petals together with glue dots.

For the medium sized flower,  punch 3 large petals in Watermelon Wonder cardstock and 1 small flower center in Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The medium flower has 2 large petals on the back layer and 1 large petal placed in the center and lower for the top layer.  Again tuck the tiny yellow flower center between the layers for the stamen.  Adhere all petals with glue dots.

Punch 1 large petal, and 1 small petal out of Watermelon Wonder for the smallest flower.  Then punch another tiny yellow flower center out of Daffodil Delight for the stamen. Create the small flower by layering the large petal, small yellow center, and small petal as shown and adhere with glue dots.

The flower stems are cut free hand from Pear Pizzazz cardstock.   The leaves and bottoms of the flowers are punched using Pear Pizzazz cardstock..  Use foam adhesive strips to adhere the stems and Stampin’ Dimensionals (pop dots) to adhere the leaves and flowers, bunching them to make a natural arrangement.  The sentiment is stamped on a 1″ x 1 1/2″ Whisper White rectangle in Watermelon Wonder Ink,  The corners are cut with a small circle punch.   Back the sentiment with a 1 1/4″ x 1 3/4″ Pear Pizzazz rectangle and shape corners  with a small circle punch.  Attach with double Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love how the colors make this card fresh and cool.  The Bunch of Blossoms Stamp Set gives you lots of sentiment options.  Stay tuned for another blossom card using the stamp set instead of the punch.  Keep cool – Fall is just around the corner!
