Stampin’ Up All Occasions Card with Petal Palette

Beautiful All Occasions Card

Petal Palette card with bird and flowers by Lynda Falconer @

I just finished a video tutorial for this beautiful all occasions card.  I’ll be posting it in my newsletter Thursday so be sure you’re signed up – it’s free of course!  My newsletter goes out once a week and has exclusive cards and videos as well as any upcoming specials or news you need to know.  You can sign up on the side bar (or scroll to the bottom on a mobile device).

The video will show you how to make the card but I promised to share the measurements and materials list here.  We made this card at our February Stamp Club and they all turned out beautiful, even though most of the stampers had never used Stampin’ Blends Markers before.  The video shows you an easy way to get good results when coloring with Blends Pens.

I love all the different color combinations and how

they change the card.  It was very relaxing to color our stamped images.  We had so much fun!  Here are the details you need.

Card Base – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″  Whisper White Cardstock

Blue Layer – 4″ x 5 1/4″ Pool Party Card Stock with oval cut out measuring 2 1/8″ across middle

20″ length of silver and white baker’s twine

Flower cut out from Whisper White Cardstock using  Petals & More Framelits for inside

The bird and flowers are stamped on Whisper White Cardstock with Memento Jet Black Ink.  Memento Ink will not smear when the alcohol Blends Markers are used.  They are cut out with Petals & More Framelits.

Each color of the Blends Markers comes in light and dark.  You will need both the light and dark of any color to get the blended effect.  The markers are $4.50 each or $9 for a combo of the light and dark marker for any particular color.  I used Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Combo for the flowers, Old Olive Combo for the leaves, and Light Calypso Coral Blends for the bird.  The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.

Instructions – see video in newsletter for demonstration

Stamp bird and flowers on white cardstock.  Color with Blends Markers – color entire section with the light marker, then trace outline and shading with the light marker.  Use the color lifter to remove color for highlights.  Cut out bird, flowers, and inside flowers with framelits.

Inside of Petal Palette bird cad by Lynda Falconer at   Cut the oval out of the Pool Party Cardstock layer as shown.  Center the layer on the card front and stamp the sentiment in the center of the oval on the card front. Tie the baker’s twine around the Pool Party layer about 1 inch from the bottom with the bow on the left side.  Then adhere the Pool Party layer to the card front.

Next adhere the bird to the top of the L in the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then adhere the colored flowers to the bottom right of the oval opening with Stampin’ Dimensionals and embellish flower centers with pearls.

Use the oval to cover an error on the inside of the card by Lynda Falconer at www.crafterinspired.comFinally, use a glue pen to adhere the cut out flower dies to the inside bottom right corner of the card.  Now if you missed the direction and accidentally stamped the cover sentiment on the inside of the card (Oh my!  Surely that didn’t happen! ) here’s an easy fix.  Use the oval cut out to cover the inking error, then tuck the flower cutouts on the corner.  We decided we liked the “fix” better than the original!

Add any sentiment you choose to the inside of the card.  You did it!
