I love to give a personalized gift for a bridal shower or wedding but don’t always have the time for something elaborate. When one of our Scrap Club members got married, we just had to do something special for her. The inspiration for this gift actually came from a birthday stamp set I had used to make a simple vintage wedding card.
I enlarged the cake image and with a few modifications came up with a giant framed wedding cake that guests could sign. It just took me a short afternoon to make and the cost was minimal. It could be adapted for a birthday, anniversary, Sweet 16, etc by changing the papers. Here’s how to make it.
I enlarged the cake stand image from the stamp set on a copier, then cut it out to use as a template. Comment below or email me at [email protected] with your name and email address and I’ll email you the template.
I cut the cake stand out of silver paper and glued it to a piece of 8.5 x 11 inch Sahara Sand cardstock. I then cut 3 cake layers out of patterned paper and clued them on top of the cake stand to form a wedding cake. Then the fun began! I used flowers, crocheted lace, pearls, and Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace to decorate the layers. The heart punch made the perfect cake topper adorned with a pearl sticker. Choose papers with the bride’s wedding colors for the cake layers and the decorations such as flowers, rhinestones, etc..
We all signed the mat that came with the frame to leave a special message for the bride. Scrap Club members all donated to a Stampin’ Up Gift Certificate for the bride! Congratulations Becky! We love you and wish you well on your new adventure!
