about 25 feet away. After a delish full breakfast, we were free to scrapbook from 9 AM til midnight each day. There were trivia games, name that tune, music, and dancing throughout the weekend. Our waiters were wonderful and even added to the entertainment at night by singing and dancing on the tables! Jeremy could do a mean Selene Dion impression!
Of course the best part was the people! I roomed and traveled with 2 friends, Jennifer and Lisa. We stayed in a condo just a block from The Hangout but spent very little time there. It was great to meet scrappers
from all over – Nashville, Jacksonville, Memphis, etc. There was great camaraderie and always a willing candidate to give advice or loan me scotch tape!! I even met a designer who teaches at Scrapbook Expo!
The Hangout was such an interesting place. They decorated the walls with lunch boxes, rubber ducks, game boards, matchbox cars, and even Pez dispensers as shown in this pic. There were hundreds of them!
We all had a blast at Gigi’s Retreat. She does them several times a year and posts info on her website. Just google Gigi’s Scrapbook Store in Gulf Shores, Alabama if you want information. Gigi also designs and sells beautiful scrapbook layout kits. I “cheated” and worked totally on kits while I was there so I didn’t have to pack my whole scrapbook room! I used the supplies in the kits but rearranged them to fit the pictures I had. I haven’t taken pics of any of my finished pages yet but here’s an example of Gigi’s kits.
I really enjoy scrapbooking but rarely get the chance to work on my albums at home. It was truly paradise hanging out at The Hang Out last weekend. I sometimes forget how important it is to take time for yourself and to indulge in your creative passion. I hope you find your paradise this week – even for a few minutes – and take time to do what you love! Now it’s back to my paradise – my craft room – this week . Although there are no dancing waiters, I will enjoy sweet memories of Gulf Shores, and pretend I can hear the ocean roar while I’m working on my next projects – Valentines and my first online card class!
