Do you CASE for easy card design?  CASE is an acronym for Copy And Share Everything- the crafter’s creed!  Designers get inspiration from each other and often tweek another crafter’s creation to make it their own.  Lisa Pretto of Ink Big Academy generously gave me permission to use her original card on the left to CASE a similar but unique design shown on the right.  Lisa is known for her simple yet powerful designs and this card is no exception.  I fell in love with the simplicity and freshness of the white on white.  The pumpkins add the wow factor to complete this classy card.

     How do you CASE?

You can use any card (or project design) to CASE.  Consider changing one or

more of the following.

  • Color
  • Background paper
  • Sentiment
  • Shapes
  • Embossing
  • Embellishments
  • Ribbon
  • Layers
  • Orientation

For my card, the sentiment was changed to a fall favorite stamp set, Count My Blessings.  and stamped on a square cut with the stitched shape framelits.  The card base measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″  was cut from half sheet of 8 1/2 x 11″ Whisper White cardstock.  The second layer was also Whisper White, and embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.  Linen thread was then wrapped around this layer 3 times and tied in a bow before adhering the layer to the card base with dimensionals.  The sentiment is added next, again with dimensionals.   The pumpkins were cut from the gorgeous Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper then attached with dimensionals to make them stand out.

More Case Ideas

I have lots more ideas in store for this card!  You could add an orange or brown layer that peeks out from under the embossed leaves layer.  You could add burlap or yellow or brown ribbon instead of the linen thread if you wanted more color.  Or you could totally change the theme of the card by changing the pumpkins – a black cat for Halloween or a stocking for Christmas.  Then change the embossing folder, sentiment, and ribbon to get a whole new card – easy peasy!
